Step by step
Look for the native Save action
Open Share on the individual post. TikTok uses Save video for videos and Save photo for downloadable photo posts.
Separate permission from device failure
No Save option means the creator does not allow it. An option that appears but fails points instead to storage, permissions, app version or network conditions.
Test another downloadable public post
Try a public post that visibly offers Save video or Save photo. If that one saves correctly, the original problem is tied to the first post rather than your device.
Save video or Save photo is missing
TikTok explicitly ties the native save options to the creator’s download setting. There is no browser toggle that can make the button appear for a post whose uploader disabled it.
Private, deleted, age-restricted, region-restricted or otherwise account-limited posts may also be unavailable and are not candidates for a bypass.
The Save option appears but nothing is stored
Confirm TikTok can access device storage or Photos, check free space and try again on a stable connection. Updating and reopening the app can clear a stalled native save without changing the post.

- Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data if the transfer stalls.
- Update TikTok, close it completely and reopen the post.
A copied link does not start a download
Copy link only places the post URL on the clipboard. It does not save the media by itself. You still need TikTok’s Save action or a supported public-link downloader to obtain a file.
Avoid sites that ask for a TikTok password, session cookie or access to a private account. None of those details is necessary for saving an eligible public post.
