How to download Twitter videos
X now offers an official download option for some videos, but availability depends on the viewer’s subscription, the post date and the uploader’s setting. There is no legitimate universal button for every post.
Step by step
Try the official X download
Open the video post, tap the three-dot menu in the top-right corner and look for Download video. Use it when the option is present.
Understand why the option may be missing
X limits post video downloads to eligible Premium viewers and videos whose uploader allowed downloading. Older, protected or restricted posts may not offer it.
Copy the permanent post link
Tap Share, then Copy link to Post when you need the exact public URL. Copying the link is useful for referencing the post, but it does not download the media by itself.
When X shows “Download video”
According to X Help, the uploader controls whether videos can be downloaded, and Premium subscribers can download eligible post videos. The setting applies to videos posted after X introduced the control; it is not a promise that every public video has a download action.
Using the native option is the shortest path because it stays inside the platform and respects the uploader’s setting.
How to copy the correct Twitter or X link
Open the individual post containing the video, tap the Share icon and choose Copy link to Post. On desktop, you can also open the post detail page and copy its address from the browser.
A useful link contains the account name and /status/ followed by the post identifier. Profile and search URLs do not identify one video.
Avoid tools that ask for your X credentials
A public-video download should never require your X password, session cookie or private-account access. Those details can expose your account and are unnecessary for using X’s official download option.
Protected, private, deleted and account-restricted posts are not public download sources. Treat a site that promises to bypass those controls as a security risk.

The uploader may have disabled it, the post may be ineligible, or your account may not meet X’s Premium download requirement.
Does Copy link to Post download the video?
No. It only copies the permanent post URL to your clipboard. The media is not saved by that action.

They can still resolve to X post pages. Copy the permanent post link rather than a profile or timeline URL.
Can I download a protected post?
No. Protected, private and account-restricted content is outside scope.
